Department Description
Throughout its lifetime, a cell's DNA is under constant metabolic and environmental assault leading to damage. Left unchecked, the resulting genome instability initiates cancer and other age-related disorders. Using Fanconi anemia as a backdrop for understanding aging and cancer, our laboratory's research aims to elucidate pathways that prevent cancer development, with a specific focus on those that repair DNA and those that induce permanent growth arrest in response to cellular stress.
Detailed Description
The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the principal investigator of the Laboratory of Genome Maintenance, providing administrative support of a medium-sized laboratory. Responsibilities include managing the correspondence and schedule of the Head of Lab, representing the Laboratory in interactions with other University departments, government agencies, and private foundations. The Administrative Assistant will manage and monitor all laboratory operations, including Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), laboratory finances, personnel/employment documentation, grant application processes, animal facility bills, equipment maintenance and inventory, service contracts, laboratory safety compliance and ordering supplies, as well as other administrative and clerical tasks, including answering telephones, filing, and processing expenses.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Strong Computer Skills, and Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), required. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Illustrator is a plus. Strong attention to detail, multi-task, and priority management skills, are necessary. Knowledge of grant writing and management and comfort with budgets and basic accounting is a plus.
