Organization Overview
The new institute builds on Rockefeller’s long legacy of infectious-disease research in supporting intensive research on pathogens, including proven troublemakers as well as likely new suspects. Among other initiatives, it will support several studies launched in 2020 aimed at better understanding the biology of SARS-CoV-2 and developing interventions to prevent and treat infections, including work by Rockefeller scientists Michel Nussenzweig, Paul Bieniasz, Theodora Hatziioannou, and Charles Rice. Together with Pamela Björkman at the California Institute of Technology, this group characterized the immune response to natural infection and to vaccines and boosters, tracking the evolution of both the virus and our antibodies.
Overview
The Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out clinical research study activities accomplished through the development or updating of protocols, procedures, and standards for a study in collaboration with the primary investigator and the research team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
Coordinate, facilitate, and carry out assigned clinical research study activities through the development or updating of protocols and standards for a study in collaboration with the research team
Teach the research participants protocol and relate specific information; reinforce compliance to protocol procedures and activities regarding the clinical research study
Collect and process research data and specimens as needed/required
Provide assessment skills and direct nursing care when needed/required
Coordinate and instruct ancillary staff on protocol with specific issues and needs
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing required; current New York State Registered Nursing License and a minimum of two (2) years of hospital and direct patient care experience required. Must obtain BLS upon hire and ACLS certification within six (6) months of employment. Must have Phlebotomy skills; IV certification preferred. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and problem-solve. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel program and other computer programs (electronic medical record) for documentation development, documentation, and creation and use of spreadsheets is required.
