The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.
The Development Assistant will work as part of a small team focused on foundation relations, in a highly collaborative Development Office dedicated to raising funding for biomedical research. The Development Assistant will work with at least three professional-staff members in the areas of philanthropic support (foundations/individuals) and development communications. Will draft, proofread and copy edit written materials (letters, proposals, budgets, reports, briefing materials, and promotional pieces). Will track proposal/reporting deadlines and donor cultivation/stewardship requirements. Will assist with the administration of grants and fellowships. Will help to organize site visits and assist in staffing donor events. Will also be responsible for maintaining database records and assisting with general office duties (phone, mail, etc.). Targeted salary is $48,000 to $55,000.
Bachelor's degree required. Strong communication, proofreading, and organizational skills and the ability to prepare professional-looking documents necessary. An interest in science is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel essential (experience with databases and other programs, such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Photoshop, and Illustrator, desirable). Must have exceptional attention to details and deadlines and be able to work with diverse personalities in a fast-paced environment.
