Rockefeller University Research Assistant, Lymphocyte Dynamics in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant, Lymphocyte Dynamics
Laboratory / Department Lymphocyte Dynamics
Our Laboratory studies germinal centers, which are structures within lymphoid organs where antibodies mutate and improve their targeting capabilities in a process called affinity maturation. This allows the immune system to produce antibodies that are precisely targeted at invaders, resulting in faster and more robust responses upon subsequent exposures.
The Research Assistant will contribute to in vivo studies in mouse models, maintenance of mouse models, generation of new mouse models by CRISPR targeting, and cellular and molecular assays to assess the phenotype and function of immune cells. Specific techniques may include flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, immunoblotting, library preparation for sequencing, cell culture, and imaging.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology preferred. Must be willing to work with mice. Must be well organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and be able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Some hazardous chemicals (ie. tamoxifen) are used in the lab.
