Detailed Description
The Research Assistant will be responsible for helping conduct research related to the functional evolution of newly evolved genes. Responsibilities include maintenance of Drosophila stocks, molecular biology experiments, sample and data collection, and phenotype characterization. Will work closely with the Principal Investigator, provide scientific input to the project, coordinate lab operations, order supplies, and manage lab inventory.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in genetics, cell biology, evolutionary biology, biochemistry, or related field preferred. Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, focused, and highly motivated to work in both general lab duties as well as in mentored and independent research projects. Good writing skills are highly valued, prior experience with Drosophila research a plus, and a willingness to learn is essential.
